Another unusual kit this time, Zulu War period Army Service Corps, or the correct title for the period "The Transport Department", who alongside the Commissariat were responsible for the supply lines throughout the campaign.
Surprisingly little information seems to be available for this period of the ASC's history, as they went through a quick succession of reorganisations and amalgamations until settling into the more stable corps of 1888.
This uniform represents a driver of the transport department in 1879 - to the best of my knowledge with the available sources! It forms part of an exciting timeline of uniforms for the ASC that my customer is putting together. Can't wait to see it all!
